Recommend a good Shoujo romance anime to start with?
I really like romance anime, possibly my favorite genre. But I have stayed away from any and all Shoujo romance anime. I've only seen one and it was Bokura ga Ita which I disliked immensely.
Could you recommend a good Shoujo romance anime that I could start with?

I didn't like Bokura Ga Ita, either! But Shoujo is still a REALLY good genre, so don't let it ruin anything! :)
You definitely need to see:
Fruit's Basket
Ouran High School Host Club
Peach Girl (my absolute favorite and first shoujo anime)
Since those were the must-see animes, here are the additionally good ones:

Kimi Ni Todoke (I only read the manga so I'm not sure if the anime is the same but if it is, you'll love it!)
Clannad
Gakuen Alice
Sukitte ii Na Yo

Shuffle! (One of my favorite romances ever!)
