Christians, is rap music?
The reason I'm asking this in R&S is because the pastor at my church doesn't believe that rap is really music and I'm looking for some Bible verses concerning it.
I'd prefer somewhat detailed answers, rather than just yes or no. If you can include Bible verses supporting your opinion, please do so.
I'm mainly talking about Christian rap, but secular rap is included.

Rap is considered a form of music, though in this case I agree with your pastor. Rap is probably the only thing that pisses me off more than fundie christians.
Of course whenever I say that I get the 'oh so you're racist' card. No. I enjoy jazz too, but rap is just plain awful, and at the very least, unsuitable for children to listen to.
And FYI, the bible was written 2000 years before rap was even a concept. There aren't any verses concerning it. You'd know that if you actually read it.

Your pastor is right. Rap is not music, it's rap. Mostly rhythm and... well, rap. Although there is a musical component, it is the least prominent, almost non-existent.
Lol do you REALLY expect to find Bible verses on RAP? LOL.

If it has a melody that you can play on, say, a piano, it's music. Most rap is therefore not music.
