iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S5?
Will be upgrading my current phone (iPhone 4s) to either the iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S5. I'm split between both - what are some pros and cons for each device?

Surprisingly, the iPhone 5 is discontinued while the 4S isn't (still sold for free with a 2 year contract or around $350 no term).
Did you mean 5c or 5s? Apart from the slightly taller screen, the 5c is no different from the 4S. 5s also has a slightly taller screen, but also slightly faster than the 4S.
Do you have other Apple products (iPod Touch, iPad, iMac, MacBook)? Do you like your 4S? Do you have NO choice but to upgrade?
If the answers to all these questions is yes, go for either the 5c or 5s (former might be better since it's more affordable).
I still have an iPhone 4S and I love it. It's running iOS 8. Certainly gets the job done. Very secure. Good battery life (lasts 9 hours with regular usage). Updates frequently. Never crashes or lags. Bugs are limited to certain apps like Spring.me, which are buggy on virtually all smartphones.
I certainly wouldn't trade it for a Samsung. I personally find Samsungs to be too big. And they are pretty much the opposite of the iPhone (not as secure, worse battery life, lags/crashes more).

If you already use Apple products like iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPod, iCloud, etc., then you'll probably be happier with the iPhone 5s.
If you use a lot of Google services, like Gmail, Google Drive/Docs, Chrome, Google Play, Google+, YouTube, etc., then you'll probably be happier with the Galaxy S5.
If you're in both words, or if you don't use many products from either company, then it's up to personal preference. iPhone 5s tends to be a little more stable, by many accounts has better apps, and is an overall impressive package. The Galaxy S5's big draw is that it offers an incredible level of customizability. You can completely modify the software that runs on the phone to suit how you want to use it, plus there are more free apps.

If we talking about technically features, than Samsung Galaxy S5 defeat out the iPhone in many ways like camera quality, processor, storage, battery life time etc. These features are more better than iPhone. So, i would suggest you Samsung Galaxy S5.

You can't compare old with new. The iPhone 5 was discontinued.
A more fair comparison would be iPhone 5s vs Galaxy s5

I would get iphone, it has the best apps and security (no virus checker neededed like other phones have). It also has imessage, Siri, Facetime, aluminum casing, slomotion video, sapphire lenses and is the only phone with fingerprint ID actually built into the device. It also has airdrop and call blocking and is also the only 64-bit phone on the market today. What you get is up to you of course. No other phone has anything even close to the "find my iphone" features either, which is a great thing to have.
