That's a hard one.
For rock, I'd say The Doors.
For pop, I'd say the Beach Boys.
And for soul, I'd say Michael Jackson.

Depends on your generation.
Surf Rock was led by The Beach Boys.
The Doors certainly would be a favorite for many.
In the 70's, Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles arrived.
In the 80's Glam Rock produced Motley Crue and Poison.
The punk rock scene produced Bad Religion and and The Offspring.
And of course, the 90's produced a pop-punk hybrid everyone knows....Greenday.
