Why does my Playstation 3 makes loud noises when I'm playing a game?

The disc tray is making loud noises when I'm playing games, almost like it's still trying to read the disc. Is this normal for the PS3 or is the lazer dying on me? I got this thing at a local pawn shop, so I'm sure the history of the console is iffy. It's the second generation model. I actually got it for someone and I'm trying to make sure it works okay before I give it to her. I've had it for about 2 weeks and other than this, it works just fine. I'm primarily an Xbox guy, so this noise is pretty foreign to me. Is this normal or should I get this fixed?

It's most probably the Blu Ray player reading the disc. It's normal. It happens alot with heavy games like Uncharted or the Last of us etc.

well this can vary because im not sure exactly what sound your hearing I cannot give a answer 100% sure but, if you bought the playstation used then the laser is most likely old and struggles to read discs but if it is new then that is just the standard noise for adjusting the disc and reading it.
