    Two calculations:

    1) heat water from 12.8 c to 100.0 C ---> use specific heat of liquid water

    2) boil water at 100 C ---> use heat of fusion

    q1 = (138 g) (87.2 C) (4.184 J/g C)

    q2 = (6.02 kJ/mol) (138 g / 18.0 g/mol)

    q1 will be in J and q2 will be in kJ. Change J to kJ and add the two values for the final answer.

    q=mcT

    m = 138 g, c = 4.18, T = 87.2

    q = 50300J = 50.3kJ
