Is he oblivious or just not interested?

Okay, so this boy (we'll call him AD), has been in my life a lot this past year. I met him at the start of this past school year, and we started to talk everyday, and text everyday, (with him texting first most of the time). Then, one day I find out that AD likes my best friend. Of course, I'm heart broken but ignore it. Then, he asks her to formal and she says yes. Again, heartbroken but silent. And last but not least, he asks her out at the beginning of summer break. Luckily, she doesn't like him as much as me, so she said no. Now, I dont know if he likes me, and that's the issue. I've tried to make it somewhat clear that I like him without plain out saying it. I've tried sending smiley faces with a lot of texts, saying goodnight with a heart, hugging him on the last day of school, everything!! He doesn't do that back. So, the main question is, is he so oblivious that he can't tell I like him more than a friend, or is he just not interested? I'm too afraid to confess my feelings to him because I don't want to make our relationship awkward if he doesn't have the same feelings. Also, the other night I had a dream that we were dating and I kissed him. It's been bothering me ever since because I want it to come true so bad, but I don't think it will. Please let me know what you think, and advice on how to let him know I'm interested in him?? Thanks

Also, we're 14, so maybe that's why he's so oblivious.
