Is the UK sleepwalking into membership of a Federal Europe?

David Cameron is doing a grand job of appearing to champion the UK's general objection to a more federal EU.

He is being further and further isolated by the rest of the EU, and he still bangs the drum.

Well of course he does, he wants to stay in the EU as much as Milliband, Clegg, or the Green Party for that matter, but he also knows that there is very considerable scepticism in the UK.

He cannot sit back and agree the appointment of Junker into the role of EU president because this man is very much a Federalist.

So what does he do, he opposes him, he builds on the Notion that the UK will get powers back, and that in turn will, if he gets elected and is forced to give a referendum, allow him to say that the UK is in a much better place and should remain in the EU.

If we as a Nation fall for it, then within the next 10 years or so, we will be locked into what a growing number of EU commissioners are calling for, and that is the formation of the United States of Europe.

That is my view, but what do you think?

    That is pure BS.

It is pretentious on the part of UK to fake it that way to escape responsibility. None is forcing it. The fact is UK is unable to get over its Imperial hangover even now. This problem will loom large for the other West Europeans too - the Dutch, Danish & French.

It is not at all clear to UK which is terrified about its future in EU. Its a new experience as UK never took decisions of this nature in its long history, with problems in total obscurity, as prisoner of this Imperial legacy - Australia, New Zealand & Canada - not to talk about Falklands Islands, St.Helena, Asuncion & Pitcairn it feels lost (will a Pitcairn islander be called a citizen of EU ?).

EU has a different political culture & attitude that is not helping UK in the least to cope with. In fact some in EU feel that the presence of UK is a drag on EU. Yet, they can't discard it for the sake of Geography (if everyone has an option & drops off, structurally EU will become a Swiss Cottage cheese, with already Switzerland appearing as a big hole in EU map!). West Europe shouldn't become a Waste Europe.

The Lisbon Treaty illegally abolished Britain on 1st January 2009

This sixth and final EU treaty formally replaced Britain with the European Union on 1st January 2009.

The Treaty "takes primacy" over the British Constitution which it thereby abolished, and with it the nations of Britain and England; it gives the EU the power to close our Westminster Parliament.

The Treaty set up an unelected three tier politburo executive in Brussels with absolute power, a dictatorship on the soviet model.

The Westminster government now only exists to help the press conceal what has happened, until the EU dictatorship has consolidated its power.

Junker is the typical example, why we should put on our running shoes and leave this corrupt institution. This guy has only one aim and that is to head his own Federal State.

Cameron should stand firm and tell the Bureaucrats that we got rid of one in 1945.

Even more reasons now, for Cameron to get of his backside and do the right thing for this Country and give the referendum we so badly deserve.

    I agree with MYRTLE, simple.

I agree. Sadly most people dont get it.They dont see a problem with voting for their MP only to have shysters like Junkers and his unelected committee deciding what happens in UK.
