Why is it that people come to you for advice but dont take it.?

I just don't understand...a person can be in a crap up situation always complaining but wont take any one good advice. Why do people do this seriously? How do u deal with these types of people or do you not?

When I vent to people, I'm usually looking for sympathy rather than actual solutions. It sounds bad, but sometimes you just want to feel like someone understands your situation. But sometimes you genuinely want advice, sometimes you don't.

Just give them a reason why you won't give them advice. For example: everyone's situation is different and I don't think my advice would be suitable.

Either that or give them the advice and stop worrying about whether they follow it.

I have dealt with a sibling for a decade who calls ALL the time, speaks the entire convo...you'd have to either hang up on her, or just start yelling your "perfect solution" to her major drama "today".

I have had to just go with the fact this "one sided" convo is, what it is, and always will be. I believe the person "asking" for advice and "never taking" said advice is a narscicist. Period. And I personally just don't talk to that person, and if I HAVE to, I would never ask questions that would lead to me giving my rad advice away.

You dispense the advice with the admonition that it is only worth what they paid for it.

    Have a polite day.

Etiquette takes over where laws end.
