If you have a concrete slab that the tiles were affixed/stuck to, do NOT use a solvent to remove the glue. The problem is that concrete is porous, and the results would be trying to deal with toxic and flammable fumes for months to come. I'm a former Firefighter- not joking. The best way to remove old mastic, that's the glue that kept the tiles stuck to the floor, is to go to your local DIY store and pick up a scraper. You can use a floor sander, be certain to use a respirator.
You are in for some work. I wish you the best.

You need a solvent to clean up tile adhesive. Water and detergent will have little effect. The problem is deciding which solvent to use. If you knew the tile manufacturer they would know the solvent. Evostik glue remover would probably work. See link. Be careful to ensure good ventilation and avoid sources of ignition as it's potent stuff.
