How do I screw in a screw in a hard to reach ceiling about four feet away?

I have to attach a cover to an attic opening in the middle of a 20 foot room. I have a ten foot ladder, I can reach another 6 feet but I need to get another 4 feet.

A telescopic extension maybe. Or, I'll have to invent something.

Any ideas?

    Taller ladder.

Unless you re 10 feet tall, you CAN'T reach 16 feet up from a 10 foot ladder. that said, there are three possible answers: A taller ladder, scaffolding, or a personnel lift. You can rent any of these at a large home improvement store.

Geroth is confused. Even if you could locate extension bit holders as long as claimed, there is NO WAY, you can hold 4 feet of extension steady enough to drive a screw.

You could screw a drill chuck on a 3/8 chunk of reddi rod.

They make long bit holders and hex extensions for your drill. Though you may need to buy two to pull that off

I would hire a guy and let him solve it. Safer for you.

    You could try scaffolding.
