Why can you buy complete sets for cheaper tha booster boxes?
Hi guys,
I am wondering why it is cheaper to buy complete sets of pokemon cards for cheaper than the price of Booster boxes. What is the point in buying booster boxes (Where it is impossible to get complete sets from 1 box) if you can buy sets for cheaper? By sets I mean jungle, fossil, boundaries crossed etc etc.

You buy booster boxes in the hopes of getting a rare card you need, then making some money back by selling off your other cards or possibly using them for decks (Since at one point, in Pokemon Mewtwo EX was at 70 USD and in Yugioh Gold Sarcophagus was at 100 USD.)
In terms of older sets (Base, Jungle, Fossil in Pokemon, LOB in Yugioh) it is because sealed boxes are extremely rare to find, but there are (in comparison) a lot of the single cards around since cards are meant to be opened.
Large shops sometimes open the boxes because they can sitll profit given they buy the boxes from distributors for a cheaper price.
