Is there any app out there that can remove viruses? Preferably free but if not what's the best one out there, I have a Motorola G (if that helps)

That's false. There are millions of viruses created specifically for android. You can get a virus anywhere - even in app store! Anti-virus app is MUST for every android user. Unless you don't have any private data on phone and you just don't care about that. Make sure to install one of best anti-virus apps that are reliable and safe. I have written a post covering most popular android guard softwares.
Let me know if I can help you out somehow!

No, there is really no need of antivirus. Android itself is a safe device. All security breaches are caused by our negligence. Sharing a link that provides complete information.
