banned hair styles at senior school?

My son is starting senior school after summer the school is now an academy he has been told he can no longer have the mohican hair cut he loves he has had it for 3 years and its the only style he likes everyone loves it and he is recognised on match days at football due to it. Its not dyed its just his natural hair colour (blonde) can anyone tell me if they can force us to have it cut its a pretty thin mohican so its not like he can just flatten it when at school. I think its ridiculous its a part of his personality surely they cant make him lose it

Just so you know it's called a Mohawk. Mohicans are a totally different tribe.

TO be honest, if you can't agree with school regulations, it is not the school at fault, and yes, if a school decides not to allow extravagant haircuts, that is the school's decision, and they have every right to punish/refuse admission due to a haircut.

Not saying I agree with that policy, but in the end, the school has the right to do this.
