Can I still take legal action(continued)?

Now my account is closed and the only way to open it is to pay off the overdrafts but my issue is that I shouldn't have had to go through all this in the first place. Why should I have to pay overdrafts that should never have occurred in the first place or shouldn't I at least get reimbursed by the gym because it was their fault and negligence from the beginning that got me to this situation.

You can get reimbursed what they deducted, and that's it. They are not responsible for your personal finances, or the fact that you don't have any form of overdraft protection.
