How can a county agency justify going both state & federal agency rulings & placing someone in danger ?
I am a transgender women who has passed all warpath standards with both VA ID & state DL attesting that I am female. I was put in a cell with male sex a fenders just because I haven't been able to afford genital reassignment surgery. I feel that this was a devastating insult which placed me in danger unnecessarily ,even the social security administration recognizes me as a women .

Sorry, you were put into a potentially dangerous predicament.
However, what cell you get for lockup depends on a couple of factors.
1) What state, county, or city you live in. Do they even recognize trans-rights and how educated is law enforcement is on trans issues.
2) Even if the law is sensitive to our needs, the expediency of the situation and over crowding may mean the jail just plain cannot accommodate a trans-person's wishes. There are certain situations when they cannot put us in the lock up of our choice. We can ask for a single cell if there's one available. Essentially, it's first come, first served.
At best, we get put in the appropriate lockup. At worse, we get maimed or killed while waiting for bail. If you were injured and can prove your rights were violated, seek out the Transgender Law Center.
