Modem wont connect to internet?

My family and I just moved and are provider now is Time Warner. They came and set up a cable modem, but it has caused a lot of problems. I play Xbox and every 30-40 minutes I will just randomly go offline. Im assuming it is the modem sense im wired to it. So i got my old modem back and plugged it in. I can connect to the modem but the modem wont connect to the internet? It is a Cisco wired Modem. Help?

Ps: I do have the setup right

Assuming your old modem is a cable modem, in order to use that you would need to give Time Warner the MAC (hardware) address of that modem (the WAN side if it is a modem/router). Good luck.

I helped someone when they were initially connecting to Time Warner (TV, phone, and internet) and it was like pulling teeth getting the internet working initially. Time Warner thought that the MAC of the modem was different than the modem itself said it was (maybe on a sticker on it?). And she had to get the cable TV box (separate from modem/voice) replaced several times over the years when they failed.

TW is a Cable TV and Internet company. Your connection comes through the cable now. Your old modem isn't going to work unless you get another Internet service like DSL. Contact Time Warner customer service for assistance.

Connect to the Internet over broadband is becoming a popular solution for connecting to the Internet. If you can't connect modem to internet, two things you need:

    1. Guarantee the modem is well. Then reset the password of the modem.

    2. Determine if it is available in your area
