Feel sore after the gym all the time?

I've just started going to the gym. I'm meeting with a trainer soon, but in the mean time I've been following my brother's routine.

I'm slightly overweight and really out of shape. My brother is a lot better (he can do prolonged cardio no problem), but he still has a lot of belly fat.

I always feel an extreme amount of soreness every day after the gym mainly in my legs. It makes it hard just to walk around the house.

Is this normal? Do I just endure it for now? Or is there some adjustment I need to make to my workout?

Most detailed answer gets five stars

Thanks

If you're new to working out yes you'll be sore. Also a beginner should start working out x3 a week and slowly build to x5 or x6 a week. Also remember you're not your brother so you may not be able to fully perform the routines he does. But for now make sure you workout one day amd rest one day, or alternate which body parts you exercise. Some alternate between arms, core, legs, and cardio and from there cam become more specific. Make sure to take in protein within 30mins of working out to boost and start muscle recovery. Stretch. Drink water. And cold shower. A cold shower or bath and I mean cold cold is a method used by high athletes, mainly collegiate cheerleading teams. I like to do hot then super cold. Proper sleep also aids in post day soreness.

What you're experiencing is DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). It's usually worse the second day after working out. Consume lean protein to help with muscle recovery and development.

its normal, beginners stay sore longer. as you start to heal from the soreness you'll have more muscle in your legs and be able to handle more time at the gym when youre on your feet.
