Good classic rock for string quartet at my wedding?

An excellent idea by Thin, and here is another .......talk to several string quartets which are available for weddings, and ask them if they perform any classic rock music.

It probably depends on what you're shooting for..do you just want "classy" sounding but recognizable songs for background dinner music? If that's all you want (and you're going to pony up the dough for a live band), it probably doesn't matter much what the subject matter of the actual tune is as long as it "sounds pretty". In other words, something like Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" would work and it already was set up for strings as the original tune contains them. But if you're hoping to "first dance" to it, then subject matter figures in as well. A little more info..what part of the wedding is the string quartet for?

Are YOU going to transpose the sheet music? If not, don't you think you might be wiser to find out what "classic rock" is actually available scored for a String Quartet and chose from THAT, instead of picking tunes out of thin air?
