do we tend to overrated 90's rap?

The big difference between 90's rap and today's rap is the total lack of diversity of what gets played on tv and radio. There's obviously still good rap music being made, it's just way harder to find. I do think 90's rap is better overall, but people act like there wasn't some garbage being made then too... But now it's more about image than the actual craft.

Maybe a little bit. The 90s had Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay Z, Pun, Big L, Wu Tang and so many legndary rappers so it deserves every bit of praise imo. But lets not forget Vanilla Ice and Mc Hammer are 90s rappers lol. Also new modern rap is hated too much because people only hear **** on the radio when there is alot of really good mõdern rappers too. Overall though 90s was an amazing decade for rap and will probably forvever be the best.

No 90s music was better than todays. Today rap isn't about rap its about getting rich looking cool , all they talk about is hoes and drugs. 90s music conveyd messages , that soul music. But some rap today is straight

No... Nineties was by far the best period for rap

Certain rappers were overrated but overall I would say that was the best era ever for hip hop. If you look back at that time so many great albums were released that we still celebrate today. It was a time when MC's were still rapping to be the best. Nowadays a lot of rappers rap for the money and are just focused on making hits.

I honestly think 80's hip hop is the most overrated.

I distrust anyone who makes statements like "Today's music all sucks" or its opposite "All of that old music is garbage". The truth is there is worthwhile music and boring piffle from every decade. Search out the good stuff and discard the waste.

Most people these days are dumb AF
