You forget not only the Rockets lost 1st round pick, but ALSO 2nd round pick. The Rockets desperately wanted Lebron,Melo,Bosh, & other free agents but they can't shop new players unless they have free cap space which they desperately need make room just like it was a car pool. It was a gamble & they lost. Both Parsons & Bosh wanted more money which of course I don't blame them.
I believe the Rockets are fine with both Harden & Howard. They just need a stronger bench & I'm going to say this once again, a new coach! Kevin McHale is just like Mike D'Antoni who is overhyped. This is the guy who failed with the Timberwolves twice & he will fail in Houston. I see the Rockets being a 6th-8th seed of the WC. Bosh f**k the Rockets.

"some European guy that doesn't even come up on google" LOL. Yeah, I don't know what's going on over there but everything is stupid. I think Morey REALLY thought he was gonna get Lebron or Melo or Bosh and so he was trying to set all this stuff in motion and it didn't pay off. Parsons is a big loss IMO and may knock the Rockets down a couple of spots. They'll still probably make the playoffs but I see them being like 6th seed now.

They gambled for Bosh, and put themselves in a rough spot. Ariza isn't a terrible replacement for Parsons, he may even be better, but Morey certainly missed out on getting some big names. They need trades for role players right now, that's what they're missing more than anything.

they took a huge gamble to free up cap space to get either melo or bosh. in order to sign bosh, and resign parsons they needed to free up cap space. so they unloaded lin and asik for nothing to free up cap space. but then bosh decided to stay with the heat. so they signed ariza in a knee jerk reaction. now they had to let parsons go. they gave up all their bench power, in a gamble, and they lost.

They were trying to clear up cap space in order to try and acquire the big free agents (Bosh, Melo, James) but all three of them went elsewhere. They pretty much gave up valuable bench pieces to try and sign stars, but it's not their fault, bosh pretty much guaranteed them that if LeBron left, he would sign with them, but he changed his mind last minute for more money.

They were trying to clear their salary cap for Chris Bosh or
Pau Gasol. In each case, the player went elsewhere.

The Rockets tooka huge gamble in free agency and failed, it'll be a rough season but there still a playoff team.

They tried to get Bosh and Melo... who ultimately resigned with there current teams.

It kind of sounds like you will be rebuilding since all the big free agents you wanted signed elsewhere.
