Is anyone else as tired of cooking shows as I am?

There are so many contests; 'Makeovers'; 'Impossibles'; etc. etc., ad nauseum. Good grief; I like cooking, but I get tired of these shows.

Yes. So tired that I don't bother watching them at all any more. I never did watch many anyway. The contest ones like Iron Chef are just plain ridiculous. They bear no relation to the kind of cooking I do or that anyone else I know does so they aren't educational, I find the idea of cooking as competition to be absurd, and half the show is filler, with people standing there waiting to be told how they did. Just cut to the chase and tell them. The show could easily be half as long if they cut out the fluff.

Do you mean Restaurant Impossible? I used to watch that. Not now. They're all the same anyway. The $10,000 budget? Like h*ll it is. It's only $10,000 for materials because the show has put the really expensive part, the labour of the decorator, carpenters, painters, electricians and all on its budget.

Yes sick of them and the unrealistic challenges and demands on Contestants. In fact I am sick of all these shows - building reno's, singing, cooking etc. As an ex Professional Cook I would never have put myself through this nonsense.

I like those that instruct you how to cook, they are invaluable to young cooks just starting out, but I hate those competitive ones that seem to be full of angst, quarrelling and showing off.I never watch them

I think most cooking shows for wives is good and they can support the family even some males can join in in cooking.
