So I wanna watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for the first time?
Do I have to watch Fullmetal Alchemist (the first adaptation of the manga) first to understand it? Or can I just jump straight into it?

No, you can watch Brotherhood and still understand the story, here is why.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is the exact same story like Fullmetal Alchemist.
The only difference is that Fullmetal Alchemist is a older version and some of the episodes contains fillers.
Brotherhood is a newer version and a remake without the fillers.
If you watch both, Brotherhood and the original it's like watchint the orignal 2 times, so you get what i mean =)

No, you don't have to watch the first adaptation because it follows a different story. You can just watch Brotherhood and it'll still make sense to you.
