Do I have to pay child support ?

I live in Indiana where the law says you pay child support till the child turns 19. He recently graduated high school at 18 and got a good full time paying job. Am I still required to pay support to his mother for one more year till he turns 19?

If the court order says pay until the child is 19 then that what you have to do.

See a lawyer. Since he is working full time, if you do not owe arrears, you may be able to get the child support stopped. However, not if the boy intends to just take some time off, earn money for college and then go to college. Talk to him about his plans.

If the other parent agrees that your child is now self-supporting, you may be able to stop paying child support. See link below and talk to an attorney.

Yes, you should continue to pay child support. Do you intend to help with his college expenses? Check your divorce decree to see if you are required to continue to contribute to his care and education.

You will need to pay at LEAST until he is 19. The new law continues child support beyond that age if your child is in college. Your child's income is irrelevant.
