Will I be able to work here as my first job?

Hello!

I just wanted tome input on whether I would be able to land this job I just applied for. I'm 17 and in High School about to be a senior. I asked about a job for dish washing at this sushi restaurant near my house since there was a sign on the door that said "Help Needed - Dishwashers".

So I talked to the manager and she said that I should just bring in a resume and I asked about a minimum age for working there too and there was none so I jumped the gun and made my resume the following day. I thought it was a bit odd that they didn't have an application nor an online website.

Anyway, the next day I made my resume and I put it off for about a week because I forgot about it, but then I dropped by just today and the sign was still on the door. I brought my resume in and they said thank you we will call you and I just left. My contact info was on there, but is it weird that they didn't ask me any questions or anything like that while I was there? I'm not sure how this works. I really want to get a first job here because I like the environment and it will be easy on gas since it's so close to my house. Is dish washing something I need to have prior experience in? I wanted this job to when I turn 18 my job as dishwasher could possibly transition over to a waiter or host or something like that since that's the required age, I was told. My resume has all my contact information along with my firefighting volunteer work so I think that might help.

Thanks in advance!

They think there's no minimum age? They're wrong! They have to follow the law in their area concerning the minimum age they can hire an employee. Depending on where you live, people can legally work as young as 14 with parental consent. Of course, some countries/states might have it set at 15 or 16 with parental consent, but my point is that there is always a law concerning minimum age that good companies observe. Saying that there is none means they don't know what they're talking about. If they don't obey this law, I would wonder what other laws they don't obey.

If you add this knowledge with the fact they don't have an application or an online site, you can bet this is an illegally run restaurant, operating under the radar of the law. In my opinion, you should run and not look back.

    Best of luck.
