YES a country made up of countries although Northern Ireland is TECHNICALLY a PROVINCE of THE UK..We tend to call all FOUR HOME NATIONS.....I am a bit different since have TIES to all four....Am Welsh but live now in England & have lived in Scotland..Do have close family by in NI....The REPUBLIC is another nation state.....Read up about IRELAND so as NOT to offend maybe??? Would be hard for a REPUBLIC as in Republic of Ireland, to be a part of a KINGDOM....We are neighbours with a shared history, from centuries even BEFORE the creation of the FIRST UK, in 1800, when was GB & IRELAND..Became & NI in the 1920's when The Irish Free State was formed..becoming a REPUBLIC in 1949....

Countries within a country is right, because previously having been independent there isn't another sensible name for them. Or to put it another more precise way, they are non-sovereign countries within a sovereign country. A sovereign country rules itself, a non-sovereign country may have some measure of self-rule but ultimately it doesn't.
Your list should therefore include the UK and the Republic of Ireland as two countries, and that's the British Isles dealt with.

The UK is a set of 4 "home countries" within one kingdom ruled by a royal family headed by Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen asks the Prime Minister to serve if his party wins the most seats in the House of Commons.
