Are kids less likely to get picked on in a charter or private school?
Just wondering if kids get less picked on in charter or private schools rather then traditional schools? My friend wants to put her daughter into a charter or private to prevent her from getting picked on. She started Kindergarten in the fall. Any input?

It just depends on the the school, the kids, and the staff. You can't generalize. To clarify, charter schools are public schools. They receive public funding so there's no tuition. They are chartered by local school districts or the state but are run independently. They vary in quality just as other schools do. The one in my town has a good academic reputation. However, there was a big flap over sexual harassment by eighth graders was handled. Kids were behaving inappropriately so the principal called a whole school assembly had the guilty kids on stage and we held up as examples of how not to behave. Public shaming. One it turned out wasn't involved. The public schools here seem about the same both climate wise and academically. A lot of people can't be bothered to look into their options and think charter or private must be better.but you can't judge on name. There are good and bad of both.

My Brother Goes to a private school, he always talks about how nice everyone is and has never experienced anyone picking on him. His school goes from kindergarten to 12th grade (it's a church school btw) & even the 12 graders are extremely kind to all the kids in lower grades, they don't have that senior attitude where they think they run the school everyone is treated equal.

I know that the Charter school near us (HS) is terrible and the kids are abusive to not only the teachers but the other kids as well. She is still young so possibly a charter school would be best for her. A friend of mine will only Sub. at Charter or Private Elementary schools because they are much better for the kids.

It would most likely be the same. Private and Charter school kids tend to be prissy and snobby little brats, so she is better off in regular public school. :)
