What should I buy with a Wii U?

The GamePad will have a rechargable battery and cables to charge it. So you really don't have to worry about that.

If you want rechargeable batteries for your Wii Remotes, that's up to you , but I find I don't play many games that require them anymore, so the traditional AA batteries work fine.

If you want more of a traditional controller, I would look into the Wii U Pro Controller. It will be rechargable as well and comes with a cable to charge it with against any powered USB port on the Wii U or your computer. It won't work with all games, but it will work with most of the games that you want it to work with.

If you get Mario Kart 8 (either game stand-alone or with a Wii U bundle) before the end of the month, you can register it with Club Nintendo to get your choice of one of four games for free:

- New Super Mario Bros U

- Pikmin 3

- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

- Wii Party U (which will require you have additional Wii Remotes to play)

Only the console (not the controllers) and Wii remotes

The battery pack isn't a must, you can charge and play the game pad while gaming. But it doesn't last very long while unplugged.

You should get some more Wii motes if you are playing multiplayer games with friends locally.

I have a wii u and it is AMAZING. ZombiU and Mario kart 8 I would highly recommend :)

Get the essentials and then get the Mario Games. :)
