The range of 18 wheelers is impressive. Most things get where there sold by them. Including natural gas. Propane is used in gas stoves it's available anywhere and it's easy to transport and store.

Yes it burns clean but there's nothing natural about frakking and super frakking. Ground pollution from obtaining this gas makes oil seem outright green in comparison.

Personally I'd go with alcohol no not corn alcohol you don't need to ferment food, baby food or babies to make booze, why Noone just mowed down a field of weeds to ferment into alcohol is beyond me. You could ferment dog poop, not that we need to use dog poop just that *any green thing* any plant can be fermented. Water dirt, let anything grow mow it down and ferment. And when people cry "what about the babies that will die from drinking the car booze the babies" simply remind them how little they care about the 18 and up "babies" getting shot in wars for oil.

Source(s): Supply on site, supply on demand, self sufficiency, in food and power will do more for green than what you drive. Find Paul wheaton's permaculture podcast

Semi's use diesel engines which are compression ignition engines. Vehicles that use compressed natural gas as a fuel are usually spark ignited engines such as a gasoline engine. It is possible to run a diesel engine on mostly compressed natural gas by mixing the gas with the intake air and then only injecting just enough diesel into the cylinder to ignite on compression letting the ignited diesel ignite the natural gas. However, unless you are in a country like Brazil, the closest you will usually find at a truck stop to compressed natural gas would be propane. Companies such as taxi companies and public transit organizations which may have CNG vehicles have their own service depots in their own yards. One concept for CNG vehicles is to install a compressor in your garage to compress the low pressure natural gas lines in your home to refuel your vehicle overnight. You have to provide your own refueling stations.
