Iphone data use age question?

Okay so my plan allows for 3,000 mb of data or 3GB and on my iphone under cellular data under current period it says 17.8Gb however when I send the request thru contacts of data usage it only says 271.83 Mb considering it's only 8 days in the current period I assume the second one is more right but then whats the other for? I have AT&T if that helps

    You've used a total of 17.8 since the last time the counter was reset. That's a grand total usage number. You have to reset it monthly in order to match your ATT statement if that's what you are thinking. Best luck.
