No wishy-washy heroine! I hate the female lead to either "hate the man but fall in love anyway" or when they are forced into marriage by family and has to learn to accept it. No. And give the man a flaw. He shouldn't be perfect unless he's a god.

everyone's idea of a perfect romantic story is different, what is your idea of a perfect romantic story? What that might be, go with it

I agree with two other answers to find some inspiration and write about what you like or look in magazines/papers for inspiration. The first stories people often write are about something that has happened to them or someone they know. You could write about a current issue, the credit crunch, and how a family start to lose their wealth through job loss and investments. It could be emotional and dramatic with perhaps the perspective taken from a teenage persons view point.

It's a forgone conclusion that if you don't have what it takes (energy, imagination, work ethic) to think of your own idea, then you don't have what it takes to write anything.

Funny how things work out. Stephanie married, Robert got killed, but that's just how the story begins. Death it seemed had other plans for poor robert.
