Can I get documents that were filed into a case for research purposes?

I want to research a specific claim that was made in a case filed in NJ superior court in 1993, can i get copies of the documents that were filed into the case while it was an open case from the court? will they still have them?

The records dept. at the court house where the case was heard will have the records. You will only get the court records, not the records of the plaintiff's lawyer or the defendant's lawyer, just what was entered into the record, orders, minute entries, etc. You must sign in, with ID. If you want to photocopy anything, you need to take coins. They are not a bank.

Depends on the type of case, specific documents, and the individual court policies. Contact the relevant courthouse to find out if the case is available & what their procedures are on getting copies.
