  • High Altitude Runway Vs. CS prop?

I had a first time encounter with a runway at 7,000 msl, and upon entering the patern I got a "feel" for the prop speed and generally found there was more available thrust with the prop sped lever pulled back a bit.

I noticed it on takeoff as well, I was struggling to climb, but as soon as I pulled the speed lever back, I felt more thrust, and a much improved ability to climb.

I believe that that the best setting for takeoff at high altitude is to slow the prop speed a bit to help it grab a larger volume of air, rather than by relying upon an increase in prop rpm for thrust. This is contradictory to the POH and I want somebody to either yell at me or tell me im right for believing this.

  • How do I best access the serpentine belt on a 2010 Honda CRV?

I was going to dive in and change the belt on my father s Honda CRV, I opened the hood, and it is so tight, that even in daytime i must use a flashlight to look "top->down" to view the belt and even then, I cant see all of the belt or all of the pulleys.

I suspect some parts may be better accessible from underneath the car, or by removing the inner wheel well.

Without resorting to trial and error and wasting hours of time, is there any process or technique that will make changing the belt easier and less frustrating than it appears it will be?

  • When do you Hold short of an ILS?

I was instructed to us taxiway Z, H, after requesting taxi to the active runway. as i neared the end of the taxi way i rolled up on an ILS hold short line, so I asked to cross it. Is it assumed you are ok to cross it if the tower does instruct you to hold short of it?

  • On appeal, is judicial notice of a fact considered to be new evidence?

I am appealing a descision of a municipal court descision in NJ, and the superior court will hold a new trial based on only the evidence from the lower court trial and supported by breifs.

Is judicial notice of worldly things that exhist considered to be new evidence, or not because its obvious.

For example i want to point out that private companies working in a specific trade of buisness exhist in the real world by listing examples of companies in that feild of buisness.

  • How can i troubleshoot my small outboard motor?

I bought this old mercury 9.8 motor, and it runs and reponds so i guess it will do for the 150 bucks i payed for it.

I started it up to make sure it was bleeding water out the top, and i ran it for about 2-3 minutes, but no water came out.

I looked at a video online on how to change it, and i see the location of the sump, the water level was above this sump. but no water came out the top.

I understand there is a shaft driven pump in the lwoer part of the motor, but before i check this, is there anywhere else i can look to check for blockages?

Also, While im very mechanically inclined I have never owned any boat motor EVER so any information about this motor would help. All i know is that its a carburated 2 stroke with F/N/R and it makes 9.8hp and has a water cooling mechanism from a shaft driven pump near the bottom of the motor.

    Thanks

  • How do i "AIM" my fish finder transducer head when mounting it to my boat.?

I dont know exactly how these tings work to understand best how to mount them.

The unit I have looks similar to the unit in this picture i found on google here:

    http://02e1dde.netsolhost.com/blog1/wp-content/upl...

It has a back side that is flat (as shown in the picture) and a front rounded side (in the picture is facing forward on the boat and not visible.

The new one i bought, looks similar to the one that came off the boat so i think they are commonly made in this shape and design.

My problem is that the current mount location risks it striking the prop if it is turned too far, so i was consiering rotating it 180 degrees so it mounts facing the back of the boat instead of the front, but im not sure what that will do.

How do these units emit their sonar or radar energy. I know radar transceivers emit a 30' beam, but im not sure how these work.

If its mounted as it is in the picture, is the beam going straight down? If so i dont feel like it would hurt if i rotated it the opposite way.

Basically im trying to ask how these things emit their signal so that i can best understand how to mount it and if its goign to work if i rotate it 180 degrees using the same mount

  • Where should i locate the batteries in my electric 14' boat?

I bought an old 14' vhull type boat, and we live near the ocean in NJ, and there are a lot of bay areas we can fish in going no further than 1 or 2 miles from a ramp.

I plan to use 2x 4D size bateries to power 1500w of electric trolling motors.

    The batteries combined weight 200lb

The front portion of the boat is covered over and there is a windsheild,, no person can fit underneath the bow aera covering, and it is only used for storage of small things like lifevests etc. I am considering locating the batteries here, but I hear that increasing weight in the front increases drag.

Is the increase in drag from excess frontal weight more of an issue when planing the boat from high power motors, or will a vhull induce signifigantly more drage at SLOW SPEEDS when you put more weight in the front?

Should there be a noticeable difference in speed if i put the batteries in the rear, as opposed to in the center of the boat? or under the nose

  • Who might be liable in this situation?

-We installed a solid PVC decking material onto a brand new deck we built..

-Somebody standing on the deck used an aerosol type sunblock product on their feet and legs

-The falling excess sunblock product landed on the decking material and by some chemical incompatibility altered the color of the decking material on the surface, it cannot simply be cleaned off.

    1. If neither the decking manufacturer or the sunblock manufacture warned of the incompatibility are they liable for the damages to the deck?

    2. If the decking manufacturer warned to check the labels of sunblock could the manufacturer of the sunblock be liable since they didn't warn the consumer to keep it away from plastics?

    3. If none of the parties were aware of the incompatibility would anybody be liable for the damages to the decking?

  • Im thinking about giving up atheism please help me?

I have never read the bible, its really big an intimidating, so iv come to the conclusion that i need some kinds of comradery and i need to pickup some kind of religion. Us atheists dont really have a church to goto but the concept is kind of appealing so what am i supposed to do? I dont get it do I just goto church on Sunday in nice clothes and sing kumbayah?

What kind of church is the best church? and by best i mean, like which one has the most parties and gives me the highest return for the dollar i put into the basket when they pass it around.

I am a little concerned about some what ifs maybe somebody can help me here.

What do i do if they start preaching about how the earth was created by god in a couple days, do i just shut up and say nothing when the child sitting to my left starts to buy into the story tainting his fragile mind? I mean the kid goes to school and learns all about dinosaurs and im just supposed to tell him that they never existed and god just filled the grand canyon with their carcases arbitrarily? Kids love dinosaurs, that is bound to come up at some time.

What if the poor kid starts to thing god is watching out after him and he starts engagin in reckless behavior riding morocycles, and smoking but he does it because he thingks god is there to protect him. AM i to just let him go on endangering himself?

  • If you give somebody power of attorney to sell your soul.....?

If you give somebody power of attorney to sell your soul to god, but he breaches the terms of your agreement and sells it to satan for a higher price ( and keeps the excess profit from the sale)

At the same time, you dont find out about the breach of contract untill after you die.

Is there a court in hell that would have jurisdiction to issue an injunction to send you to heaven even though the aggrieved party resided on earth at the time of the breach of contract? Or would you have to phone and attorney in heaven to file on your behalf?

  • Who do i need to sue here?

I was in an accident where the the vehicle that struck me was at fault. The vehicle was a total loss

The vehicle was driven by "DRIVER"

The vehicle was owned by "OWNER"

The vehicle was insured by the "INSURER"

All three are different people/entities. The insurance company appears to have a cookie cutter procedure to handle claims with standard questions and forms to fill out, but they are trying to avoid paying me for one particular item that was damaged, so i think i will have to send them a demand letter.

Who would i sue for the damages? the driver so that she can then make a claim herself? or should i go straight to the insurer?

In case anybody is interested, i am seeking damages for an extended service contract that was effectively destroyed since the vehicle was a total loss. The service contract was valid on condition of a period of time only , and bound to the vehicle by vin number. it had over two years of effective coverage remaining when the vehicle was destroyed.
