hurry up mariners lets get a bat?

A "bat?" As in a big bopper that people ask for all the time? Not gonna happen. Who would you be willing to give up? Walker? Paxton? Ackley and someone else?

Remember, if the Mariners had something approaching a league-average offense, they would be doing great. And to get there, the easiest way is to make upgrades in the outfield, first base, or shortstop (though I'm willing to sacrifice offense for defense, especially at SS). (No, I don't want more 1B/DH types that are forced to limp out to the outfield.)

Acquiring Denorfia is a distinct though not significant upgrade over Chavez, Jones, and Romero, so he will be useful. A trio of Ackley, Saunders (when he comes off the DL), and Denorfia almost looks like a serviceable outfield.

And now the Mariners have acquired Austin Jackson in trade for Nick Franklin. Another outfield upgrade, though not the "bat" that you had in mind. Now both Romero and Jones get sent down, or maybe Hart is DFAed. Now a two-lefty, two-righty outfield group of Ackley, Denorfia, Jackson, and Saunders looks better than Ackley, Saunders, Romero, Jones.
