Why does it seem like most blacks listen to music from black artists?

NOTE: THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE RACIST

Honestly, I always see white people listening to all sorts of music. They are pleased with any. However I always see black people listening to hip hop and rap music, and to top it all up, its all made by black music artists. I never seen a black guy listen to Eminem or any white rappers. Or black girls listening to R&B they only listen to Beyonce and Rihanna just because they both are black? I don't get it, these "new" generation of black rappers only rap about money and girls, why would "these" black people love these songs so much? And whats wrong with white R&B artists? Because they aren't black?

Again, this is not meant to bash against anyone but it's based on my observations outdoors everyday.

"Or black girls listening to R&B..."

Wait, black girls don't like to listen to R&B? Since when? Do you know any black girls? lol Of course they listen to other genres too, but a lot of them mainly listen to R&B as a favorite.

I'm not sure whether or not to take this question seriously because part of me feels like you're trolling. I'm sure if you saw my playlist, you would feel differently. Besides, a lot of people play what they grow up listening to.

For the record, I hate most mainstream rappers regardless of their racial background. I prefer underground for a few reasons.

I'm black, born and raised in America, and the music I listen to isn't even in English. It's Korean. And Spanish. And I like Eminem. I guess it just depends on the person and their preferences..

I'm really not sure how to answer this. Your question started out OK, but then it took a sharp turn to Imaginaryland.

I'm black. My favorite singer is Celine Dion. My favorite types of music are old skool/def jam/early 90s rap AND 90s alternative rock music. I have playlists on my iPod for every genre of music, including Country and rock hair bands. My least favorite music is modern rap (I think Eminem and Jay-Z, but mostly Eminem, singlehandedly ruined rap music) and just R&B in general. I like singers who sing with real emotion and vocal skill, not who yell and think that's emotion, like most black female singers--that's why I think Celine is the best singer of my time.

All that said, the majority of blacks mainly like rap and/or R&B. Most blacks like songs outside of those genres, but rap and R&B are their main source of music. When I was growing up, if you were black and admitted you liked anything other than rap/R&B, black people made fun of you or looked at you like you're crazy. It has gotten better, but I think black people are still trained to like rap/R&B because that's what their parents who grew up like I did play in the car and in the house and make them feel like they're "supposed" to listen to.

Eminem? Is a horrible, overrated artist. He sounds like a cartoon character and constantly raps about the same stuff. The only reason anybody likes him, really, is Dr. Dre produces him and most songs Dre makes sound good. I know a lot of blacks who like Em, actually, but I've never liked him. Blacks who know real rap music prefer rappers from the 80s and early 90s and 2Pac and Biggie. Em is very substandard in comparison. Young black people who like rap don't know any better, so they prefer the garbage rap that comes out today.

And right now, there's not really a white R&B artist. There are white females who are borderline, and Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke make horrible music. But JT and Robin still have a lot of black fans, just not me (again, I like R&B the least, especially modern R&B).

Well the individuals that you hang around just may prefer that type of music.

I listen to all kinds of music and I dont worry about the race of the artist. Talent is talent.
