Why has Islam failed to integrate into the rest of society in England?
I have met many Muslims in my time and been fairly close friends with some, and the vast majority have been very friendly, generous and warm people - I imagine that the vast majority of Muslims in the UK are like this. But regardless of this, Islam has still failed (to a degree) to integrate properly. I live in Leicester in the Midlands, which is a very multicultural city, and the different cultures actually blend with each other quite well. Whilst there are areas where some of these cultures more heavily concentrated than others, there is no friction between these cultures aside from Islam, and I think this is the same in other parts of the country. It seems like there is a divide in the population where Muslims sit on one side, and the rest of society on the other (apart from European immigrants, who seem to be completely indifferent to the situation). This divide has broken down a little and isn't as bad as it was, but it still remains fairly strong. Is this a cultural divide, or religious? the majority of the UK has welcomed other cultures, we have big celebrations for Hindu and Sikh holidays all across the town, but Eid and Rammadan seem to be kept to certain Muslim dominated areas. Is it because of the culture behind Islam and the demands of the religion (Halal food, clothing), or is it because the religion itself isn't built to integrate? What do you think?

Because it was first formed in Arab country.......some cruel Mughals when invaded other countries and lands they forcefully spread Islam....I don't know where in there Koran it is said force them to become Muslims or kill them........
m against forceful conversion m not a Muslim though
It doesn't matter if you are a Muslim,Jew,Sikh,Hindu or Christian
Toleration is what we need in society we should be tolerable to other faiths but orthodoxism doesn't let us do so esp some Muslims who are orthodox...they should invite others to come to Mosque they should tell abt there faith n live peacefully....
That is true Religion where every society lives as One
Humanity is the religion and that is what Guru Granth Sahib teaches as well "Avar ALlah noor upaya kudrat ke sab bande" all are nature;s man there is only one Lord with different paths some say Khuda,Allah,Rama,Jesus but destination is same........
Even Hindu God,Sai Baba believed in same ideology in Monotheism and said "Sabka Malik Ek' there is one creator.....
but perception is what leads to true faith and blind faith......

It's cultural. People naturally feel happier with "their own kind", and Islam specifically isn't made for integration. It believes it is the only true religion, while Hinduism and Sikhism are more open-minded.

Because the idea of practising the culture is not welcomed. The freedom of speech and all the other 'benefits' are welcomed.

Islam regards non believers as inferior beings. There is no intention to integrate only subjugate. Sad but true.

They are simply following their Koran:
Q.5:51 “O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as awliya’ (friends, protectors, helpers, etc.), they are but awliya’ to one another ...”

Its because Muslims set up their own communities, shops, mosques etc. and just stay within those.
