Microsoft Word Document won't open?

Update:

I opened the word document in Notepad, and it looked like random letters. I deleted some of the text in Notepad, and saved it. Now the word document will not open and I can't undo the deleted text in Notepad. I am 100% the deletion of the text in Notepad is the cause of the problem. Is there anyway I can replace the text or find out what it should be replaced with? This is my book report that I worked on all week!

Maybe you saved it as a .txt file when you edited it with Notepad. If the original file is still there, open it with Microsoft Word.

It´s because notepad isn´t compatible with Microsoft Office document extensions (it uses different programming language).

I don't believe notpad can open .docx files. You may have saved it as a different file that does not work well in Word. Do you have a backup?

Check to see what file extension your document is saved in, (.doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt) then I'll be better able to guide you from there
