Is a lack of innovative producers the biggest for current New York hip hop?

I think New York still has strong lyricists (Pro Era, Action Bronson, the Underachievers etc.) And if you wanna talk hits New York has some mainstream artists that can do that like ASAP Rocky, Nicki Minaj and French Montana. I think the problem for New York is a lack of innovation musically. Ive been hearing for months how New York hip hop is in the toilet. Well that's new york's fault. Chicago has its drill music which is starting to hit the mainstream. On the West Coast you have DJ Mustard with his own signature sound and he's probably the most popular producer out right now. Then in the South of course you have trap music which has been the most notable sound for a minute.

New York, y'all gotta step up.

BQ: A$AP Mob or Pro Era?

BQ2: More emo rapper, Earl Sweatshirt or Drake?

New York is still strong, not in the mainstream presents but they all hold it down nicely.

BQ: Pro Era by a long shot

    BQ2: Drake

This is something that confuses me. And I asked my friend the other day "Why do Americans hate our Hip-Hop so much?"

He responded with the answer: "Because there's no real threat in the UK, & we can't even be bothered to keep our football/sport teams locally affiliated. They laugh at us rapping about knife crime!"

You specifically mention NY HH. Does that mean you'll refuse to listen to say.. Detroit HH?

When I create music, I make it for ME. Not others who care about this temporary stuff; no offence meant =)

I keep hearing about how TRAP is becoming ironic. Maybe that has something to do with it?

    Kind regards, Bobby.
