If I pick up a small birthday cake, can I freeze it?

Update:

I'd like to put a small round cake (fully decorated) in the freezer but just for a night. I am hiding it for someone's birthday and if I put it in the fridge that's kind of obvious. Will it thaw ok? How long should it take to thaw?

    Yeah, it works fine. I personally love frozen cake, but when you put it in the fridge or back on the cabinet it'll work out. In fact, a lot of cakes you buy at the grocery store are put in the freezer for storage before being sold.

    Yes. Should take about 4 hours to thaw.

    You don't need to refrigerate it either.

    Simply store it, covered, in a cool out of the way place.

    Unless your home is 95 degrees, the cake will be fine.

    I would hide this cake overnight in a high cabinet rather than freezing it!! I have lots of cabinets, all the way to the ceiling with little in them other than seasonal dishes!!
