derek jeter could play more?

honestly if he didn't announce his retirement publicly before this season i think he would be coming back next season. people say "oh he's a defensive liability." but he is still good in the short stop position. look at the plays he's made lately in the detroit series. i know he's not as great of a hitter as he was earlier but i would take .270 from jeter at this age.

Better leave near the top of his game. he wasn't going out after 2013 disaster season . He spoke quick he knew how old he had become. He wanted for some unknown to prove something. Yeah he could stay and keep on keeping on.I really hate those last images of Griffey in 2008,2009 and ouch 2010. Yeah we would cheer him but what else does the captain need to prove ? Beem jete right up to SS Hof/ Not the best but better than Phil or peewee.

I wish he would come back, he's been hitting around .280 all year and I dont think anyone expected that at age 40. He should keep coming back until he has a year where he drops off to .240 or something low like that. He potentially could get 4000 hits, all those ahead of him on the hit list played 2-3 years longer then him, pretty amazing.

As far as defense he doesn't have the great range anymore but if there is a ground ball hit in the 9th inning, I want it to be to him, he's as solid as they come.

Jeter is no longer an acceptable major league shortstop defensively. If you watch the games objectively you will see he has the range of a statue out there. His throws consistently do not even reach first base. In the last week he has botched two plays on balls hit directly at him. On one he tripped over his own feet. He can still hit singles, but that's about all he's got left at this age.

So you'd take .270 from a shortstop who has the range of a speed bump? You really are a Yankees fan, aren't you?

If like Brett Farve, he came back for another season, I would admire him even more then what I already do, because he has as much money as Oprah Winfrey, he would not be coming back for money, but because he LOVES the game. That is what is missing so much with todays players. I would trade Reyes from Toronto for Jeter for the 2015 season!

You could also honestly say a lot of things you think are real but are factually not.

He isn't that good at SS, and he never was that good at it.
