What are the steps in learning to play the piano?

Im not able to get a piano instructor, so Im planning on teaching myself. I already learned which letter goes with which key, so right now I'm learning some of the major scales, cause I heard you can practice playing with both hands by doing scales, so after I do some scales, Im thinking of reading sheet music next.

So is there anything else I should learn? And in what order should they be? (I know theres more to learn). Btw Im 17 and Im mainly intrested in just playing soundtracks for video games and movies, so im not really into classic. Lemme show you 2 links on what I would like to play, and to show you what level id like to play at:

AND

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miHscS-XzXE

So is it realistic for me to play at the level of the two links above? (when you are teaching yourself), And yes I know I need to put in a lot of practice and time, so im up for the challenge, but how long may it take to get to the level of the links above?

So please tell me the steps in learning piano (with learning sheet music), and about the level the piano playing is at with those links above. Thanks for the answers.

In terms of how long it takes it also depends on how much time you spend practicing each day because piano is pretty hard to learn. For practicing, I would say make sure you can play all major and most minor scales comfortably. The links you have aren't that hard to learn so if you learn slowly and try to go faster I think that is could work out. Oh and make sure you can play some easy songs too before trying to play that and maybe just take any sheet music and make sure you can name all the notes on the music pretty quickly.

    Have fun! :D

U need to get a piano teacher. I've been playing for 5 years two classes every week. Practice two hours a day and still can't perfect most songs. With a piano teacher you will learn the proper hand technique, how to move ur fingers down the keys, etc. piano is a difficult to master instrument, it's not an instrument u will find easy to learn songs with

Take a piano lesson. There not that expensive. The music store has a list of instructors You need to learn the proper fingering. You really can't learn that from a book.

You need a teacher - period. You need to learn how to read both treble and bass clef, and how to use both hands simultaneously, but independently. You can SEE in the videos you sent, that the person playing uses both hands, but they are doing DIFFERENT things - a real trained skill of coordination. This is NOT easy to learn. Without a teacher, you will beat yourself up trying to do things you do not understand, and you will quit in frustration. Twenty years is a grossly exaggerated estimate of how long this will take WITH A TEACHER - but an underestimation, if you try to *teach yourself*. How do YOU know what to do at each step along the way??

The first one will take about 20 years with piano lessons once a week and personal practice of about 2 hours every day.

You are not being realistic. Playing the piano is hard.
