Should I buy a smart phone for audio books only?

Okay, all I want to down load audio books - kinda like a glorified Walkman. I don't need any other features I have a cell phone not a ipod and I don't want to pay the extra fees for a new phone. Please give as much info as possible since this is a whole new area of technology for me...dah. What do you suggest for audio books and perhaps music downloads only.

Just get a tablet and save some money on both the phone and the service. You can get the iPad Mini for $399 ($299 for non-retina screen) or you could just get a Nexus 7 for $229-$269. If that's all you are using it for, you will like it much better, trust me

A smartphone typically costs from $400 to $600. You can get a 7-inch tablet (Google Nexus, Kindle, etc.) for around $200.
