Am I allowed to give a 1 week notice to my boss, before I resign? Please share your advice? :)?

Do you think its wrong of me to quit my job?

Basically I have been working as a Kitchen Porter, for 3 months so far. And I am a very hard worker, I do my job as good as possible.

But here is my issues.

- I cant save money. Because pay is low. 200£ a month on fuel.. and 85 a month on parking.

- My skin on my face regularley gets spots of white patches, due to handling bleach ever time.

- I get cut every single day, because of the speed I have to work at. Moving heavy trays, using steel scrubers. Scrubbing hard to reach places.

- the chefs sometimes make me clean up after their mess, e.g. if h coffee or cake on the floor, they ask me to clean up their spills. They yell at me for no reason. Send me to the shops several times a day, to get the stuff they forgot to order. I twist my ankle all the time, because they tell you to run instead of walk fast.

Thank you..

Can you please tell me what you think I should do?

Ps. i have another job lined up already.

It really depends on the contract that you signed when you first went to work there. Sometimes you can give one week's notice or it may have to be one month's notice, you will have to check the contract. If you do not have a contract then just think about the other people who have already left and remember if they gave one week or one months notice.

If you do just want to give the one week notice instead of a month, explain the reasons to your boss, the reasons you have given in your question. Hopefully he/she will allow you to finish work earlier, do not just leave the place, you want to be able to give that company as a reference for the future, so leave on good terms with management.

if you want to get paid you need to read your contract and follow what it says in there. sometimes its a week depending on how long you've been there otherwise its two weeks or a month.

with regards to your reasons I think its fair enough for you to wanna leave, I myself worked in the kitchens and I jus walked out one day as i'd had enough I didn't care bout the loss of money, but it took me awhile to find another job.

You should give them whatever notice you are obligated to give them by contract/law. When I retired in Italy, I had to give two and a half months notice. You don't owe your employers any more than that. That won't apply to you in your position. You don't owe your employers any more than that. Given that you already have another job lined up, go ahead and put6 in your notice.

Ask your boss if you can take a turn with the Prepping of food and share the KP work between others.

Don't lose your income without making a pitch - this is your life so sell your idea!
