I have a ccj after a car accident that wasn't even my fault?

I have just looked on my credit report as I am looking to rent a house. I was horrified to find out about a ccj that I knew nothing about. I have had no correspondence about this and after ringing the court found out it was for an accident that wasnt my fault and was dealt with by my insurers!! They sent the letters to my old address which of course is why I didn't respond. I cannot understand why they can just slap me with a ccj when they haven't got full details and it was for a car accident that wasn't even my fault!!! Now I think I'm screwed for renting a house :(

And what the hell is a ccj, a Carry Concealed Jewellery permit?

I've got an idea, call up the insurance company and ask them what the hell they're doing. Their answer probably won't be a completely blind guess, unlike anything you'll get in here.

For a small fee you can arrange for the post office to forward all you mail when you move house. You should also inform your insurance company, DVLA and anyone else you may be in correspondence with of you new address.

You say the insurance company sent letters to your old address, failing to inform them of a move could lead to your policy being voided.

It is your responsibility to inform insurers, and similar companies, of your change of address, or to make arrangements for post to be forwarded. If they send it to the address they have on record, they have legally informed you of the situation. If you didn't see it, that is your fault, not theirs. A judgement will be given against you because you failed to respond to a legally delivered court paper.

If, as you say, it was dealt with by your insurance, then the court judgement has been satisfied, so merely contact the credit reporting agency, show them it was satisfied and request they change the status to "debt satisfied".

you didnt see the notice of hearing published in the local paper with a circulation of 23 subscribers lmao? that is unfortunate, they won because you did not show up.

This is why you need to forward your mail when you change addresses.
