Question about modifying my car?
Okay so I want to modify my car, doing things such as body kits, aftermarket exhausts, custom taillights. Can I just order parts online and then take the parts to a mechanic so he can install them if I pay him? Or do i have to install parts myself? I dont know how to install parts and i dont want to mess anything up

For the most part, yes, you can order parts online and have an independent mechanic install it for you. However, it depends on the part in question as well as the mechanic. Some mechaincs don't like installing parts they aren't providing from their own sources or wholesalers. For example, I surprisingly had some trouble finding a mechainc willing to install a remanufactured tranny that I ordered myself simply because they didn't feel confident enough I ordered something that would exactly fit my old Chevy Monte Carlo (despite that it came from Triple Edge, a respected company among the GM W-Body community). However, it only required an extra two hours of searching the city for a mechanic that was willing to do it.
For the record, the tranny fit my Monte Carlo like a custom made glove and the car became much better to drive & own because of that tranny swap (wanting a Subaru turbo was the sole reason I sold that Chevy 2 years later).
Bottom line is, take the extra time to find a mechanic that not only is willing to do it, but is qualified to do the job right.

I would check with a local body shop to see how much they will charge to install the ground affects kits once you have purchased them. You might also check to see if there is a local auto accessory shop in your area that sells and installs body mod kits. This can be an expensive endeavor and can actually decrease the value and desirability of your vehicle. Good Luck

do you realize most modified cars end up in the salvage yard way before their time? and yes there are custom installers out there. what do you think mike, all those show winners are done during amateur hour?

no, you cannot pay a mechanic to install after market parts, you must install them yourself or the warranty is void.
