The only people that have adopted an anti-liberal stance are radical right wingers. They assume anything they don't agree with was done by a liberal. This is ignorance.

The right-wing radical pundits use the term liberal as an insult, and their listeners adopted it. Look at how many questions on YA start with "why do liberals" followed by some illogical nonsense. They assume there is a segment of society that is liberal and they all believe the same things.

There is nothing further from the truth. Liberals disagree with each other all the time. It is the nature of liberal thinking to tolerate honest disagreement.

On the other hand, look what happens when a conservative or moderate republican disagrees with the "base". He is vilified and called a RINO. Many Republicans in congress are choosing retirement over continuing their political careers because they see the profound dysfunction of their party.

So @fatboysdaddy, @LiberalsRNutz, and @Susan M, you all are repeating false talking point as evidence, false information generated by radical conservatives. @fatboysdaddy, that is what liberal means to YOU, it is not what liberal means to the majority of people in the world.

America is all about liberalism. The problem is that things changed in the 1960's. Some pretty famous people eschewed liberalism and moved to the radical left. They and their admirers have since re-packaged themselves as liberals or progressives. So the so-called liberals of today are often no longer liberal.

Liberalism, of course, is about extending freedoms. So here's an easy test: what's the stance on gun control? A real liberal wants to protect the right, where the extreme left want to limit it. There are, of course, lots of other ways to check, but that's a quick and easy one.

It's today's Liberals who would not admire FDR, were he living today. Not extreme enough to suit them. Same as they''d never nominate JFK for POTUS. Though they do love pretending they're the same kind of classic liberal those two were.

Both FDR and JFK would pay any price, make any sacrifice to defend Liberty. Today's Liberals only defend any licentious pursuit. Making Americans pay any price and make every sacrifice. Calling that liberty. When it's mere libertine-ism.

You have, perhaps unwittingly, asked a very good question that, oddly enough, Larry Flynt (2004) investigated when he was attempting to help the Clintons who were under constant attack by the far-rightwing extremist Republicans, who resorted to massive propaganda sweeps to deliberately undermine a very popular Democratic President Bill Clinton---pretty much what these same rightwing extremists have been doing viciously and unpatriotically (during war time) to President Obama since Inauguration night on January 20, 2009 (read Robert Draper, 2012, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives").

In the book "Sex, Lies & Politics: The Naked Truth" by Flynt, the author exposes (no pun intended) how Heritage Foundation (headed by Paul Weyrich), other religious-fanatic leaders like hissy-snake Pat Robertson and his ilk, aided and abetted by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, rightwing billionaire Richard Mellon-Scaife, and the ethically challenged egomaniac Newt Gingrich used an often-quoted Gingrich "hero" philosopher Nietzsche to falsely demonize a GOP-envied segment of our population, Democratic Liberals (a majority of American voters). Our founding fathers were liberals and most Americans are moderate-to-liberal in their values and their voting. Nietzsche is the German philosopher upon whose principles of "divide and conquer" demonization Nazism was based, and therein lies the answer to your question---a propaganda war as a mean-spirited political strategy to divide America so that the corporate-colluding economy-destroying, theocratic-COUP-seeing minority-sized GOP could snake their evil way into power, and a war that is ongoing to this very day, as evidenced by some of the anti-Liberal queries or answers posted on this site.

FDR had many progressives and even pro-Stalin spies in his government. Hitler based his "Final Solution" on the birth control policies of those early progressives. Much bad that we see and have suffered in the world came from these misguided people.

Read "A Renegade History of the United States" if you want to see a great comparison of policies of FDR, Hitler and Stalin. Their basic policies were very alike and no one wants to talk about it.

Mainly it is because of what it has become to mean. If you do not agree with a liberal then you must

be racist or some such thing.

Great example since his liberal policies made the Great Depression much worse than it needed to be.
