I want to be a nurse but im not sold on it completely!?

I want to be in the medical field so i thought nursing would be perfect for me. Although, im looking into like criminology and a crime scene investigator. I love CSI and i thought going to school for that would be cool. Is it possible to go to a school for that or do you have to go to college and then to a school for that? Nursing school is only 16 months and then I am a RN. I wanna do both...what do you think?

Just to be clear here, the TV show 'CSI', along with all the other crime scene shows, aren't even remotely real. You don't talk to suspects, you don't carry a weapon, you don't have a cool lab with neon lights. You are typically assigned to one department and become specialized in that and it's often extensive schooling.

A nursing program in 16 months will be a basic nursing degree and nothing else. It won't allow you to work in a hospital or to advance. To bridge over to a BSN, the preferred degree, you will have to do all the prereqs, all the GE, and then 12-18 months of nursing, at least. It sounds like a career school and these are usually very very expensive for what you get.

You will not really be able to do both in a serious working fashion. Crime Lab and Nursing are both usually full time jobs. I guess it's possible to do lab work full time and then do weekend nursing shifts, but that means you will be working 7 days a week.

I think you need to read up on what a Forensics/Crime Lab person does and then research the job market near you for nurses.

    Good Luck

I didn't think you needed a 4 year degree to be an RN. I thought AA was enough. Sounds like I'm wrong.

lie,,, only 16 months schooling will not make you a nurse

it will make you only a nurses assistant (low pay).

to be a nurse you have to have a 4 year degree

to add,,, the aa will get you jobs wiping buts,, etc,, like the other guy said

Do you like wiping butts and putting tubes in people's pee holes? If you do, nursing is perfect for you.

There are probably 5,000 nursing jobs for every CSI job out there...
