Question about the jobcentre and community service?

I went to the jobcentre today and they told me while i look for a job they will give me community service for 40 hours a week. Does anyone know if they pay you for the hours and if not is it legal for them to make you work for more then i get on the jobcentre? I get about £110 every 2 weeks and the nat minimum wage for me is £6.31 so 40 hours will come to £252.They can not make me work for 40 hours and only get £110 every 2 weeks right?

    Of course they can!

You have to be doing something, it gains you work experience and working as a team and countless other things you may even introduce you to employers! It you don't like it find a job, personally being on job seekers is actually harder work the a full time job!

No, you don't get additional payment for doing community service. You do however continue to get JSA.
