How do you refer to the doctor "THE doctor" or "Doctor Who"? I always thought "doctor who" was the name of the show and he's just the doctor?

The doctor :) he refers to himself as the doctor when he introduces himself... every1 that asks him they ask doctor who... as in what's his name/last name... they never reveal that information that's why the show is called doctor who... I personally never refer to him as doctor who.... because for me when u r talking about doctor who... and u refer to the doctor... u r referring to the main character of the series.. even if u were talking about another doctor in the series u would probably say "doctor x" x being whatever their name is... not the doctor...

He is the Doctor, name of the show is Doctor Who. Though there have been a few time were he was refered to as DW

The Doctor or Doctor Who, it makes no difference. Both are correct. Even John Smith is correct. Been watching since 1963.

i think you're right. the character's name is 'the doctor' and the show's name is 'doctor who', but i've seen some people call him doctor who (but that doesn't sound good to me, but it's just my opinion)
