Indoor riding arena observation window.?
Were putting in an indoor arena observation window and some of the boarders were asking about tinting the window. What is your opinion?
I don't see a problem with keeping it clear. Some horses might spook at first but once they get used to movement in the tack room they should be fine.
Also if I do tint the window dark enough that horses can't see in then wouldn't that also make it difficult for us to see out?
Someone mentioned a two way mirror but are those made with safety proof glass? what would the cost be?

I'm not sure as to the purpose of the window but some boarders might prefer the option to draw a curtain inside the tack room so they can have some privacy if they don't want to be watched? You can get some tints that are one way - they let plenty of light in and you can see out but not in.

Unless the window is elevated 6 - 8 feet off the ground this is kind of dangerous unless you place a retaining wall in front of it. You will not be able to safely turn horses loose in the indoor with it, or...if a rider gets dumped and the horse becomes loose it can also be quite dangerous. a retaining/safety wall 3- 4 feet in front of it is a must. I have seen a horse run its head right through one that was at floor level and it was a real mess.

You could have a shutter on the window so that if you need to close it off for whatever reason you can have that option as well as extra security for the tack room.
